Introduction to the Blog

I have FINALLY decided to take the plunge and write about our experiences of accessing services for our son who has Autism Spectrum Disorder/Condition and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). At the time of writing my son is 12 years old and we have been battling for the last 6 years to access services and support. It has and continues to be a very long and hard struggle. When we started out on the jouurney we knew nothing, but six years on we have learned a lot and the purpose of this blog is to share our experiences and hopefully help people to understand their rights and entitlements and what they can do to access services more easily. the blog is also intended to show policy makers and service bank manager what families go through and as a tiny contribution to campaign for better funded services. No-one should have to go through what we and thousands of other families have gone through and continue to go through. I won’t share very personal details about my son to protect and respect his privacy but I will share details of services, schools etc. I welcome all comments and feedback. I hope you find this blog interesting and helpful.
